A can do a work in 6 days and B can do the same work in 5 days. The contract for the work is Rs. 220. How much shall B get if both of them work together?
Step 1: A completes the work in 6 days, so A's one-day work = 1/6. B completes it in 5 days, so B's one-day work = 1/5. Step 2: The ratio of the work they do (and therefore the ratio in which the payment is shared) is 1/6 : 1/5. Multiplying both parts by 30 (the LCM of 6 and 5) gives the simpler ratio 5 : 6. Step 3: Total parts = 5 + 6 = 11. B's share = (6/11) × 220 = Rs. 120. So B gets Rs. 120.
