The Azim Premji Scholarship

The Azim Premji Scholarship is designed to empower girls who have completed secondary education in government schools by providing them with the financial means to pursue undergraduate studies. The foundation focuses more on access to opportunities and financial need rather than pure merit. The scholarship is available across 21 states and union territories — Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi (NCT), Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The application process is completely free and online through the foundation's official website.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, a student must have passed both Class 10 and Class 12 as a regular student from a government school or college in any of the eligible States or Union Territories, and must have taken admission in the first year (for academic session 2026–27) as a regular student of a recognised undergraduate degree or diploma course (2 to 5 years duration) at a government or a credible and bona fide private college or university, anywhere in India.

  • Class 10 & 12 from a government school/college in an eligible state
  • Admitted in 1st year of a UG degree/diploma (2–5 years) for session 2026-27
  • Admission can be at any government or reputed private college anywhere in India
  • From an economically weaker background (family income criteria applies)
  • Students who have taken admission at Azim Premji University are not eligible for this scholarship.

The Azim Premji Scholarship selection is a holistic process: Application Scrutiny (all applications reviewed for completeness and basic eligibility), Merit-cum-Need Assessment (the foundation evaluates academic performance alongside the family's financial situation), and Shortlisting (candidates who meet criteria are shortlisted for further interaction).
